At around 5:25 p.m. on August 21, officers arrived at Nobel Auto Select on Cambridge Street, where they found the front glass window completely shattered, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
The owner of the auto shop reported that three sets and cash were missing from the business, officials reported.
Police said they found the suspect, 43-year-old David Rios, at a nearby hotel after surveillance footage showed him throwing a car battery at the auto shop's window.
Although the stolen keys were returned to the business owner, the stolen cash was not recovered, authorities said.
Law enforcement said they also found a suspected controlled substance in the suspect's sock.
Rios was charged with breaking and entering, petit larceny, vandalism, and possession of a controlled substance, and other related offenses, officials reported.
He was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail, police said.
